Definitions:
Unless the context requires otherwise, the expressions listed below have the following meanings for the purpose of this program:
Applicant refers to an individual who :
- is between the ages of 15 and 30 (inclusive) at the time of intake/selection;
- has recently graduated from a post-secondary education (PSE) institution;
- is a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, or a person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act 2; and,
- is legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
INDIGENOUS PERSON refers to people who reported identifying with at least one Aboriginal group, that is, First Nations, Métis or Inuit, and/or those who reported being a Treaty Indian or a Registered Indian as defined by the Indian Act of Canada, and/or those who reported they were members of an Indian band or First Nation.
NEET refers to people not in employment, education or training.
PERSON WITH DISABILITIES refers to an individual who has a difficulty or impairment due to a long-term condition or health problem and/or experiences a limitation in their daily activities.
REMOTE or RURAL LOCATION refers to a population of less than 1,000 {core population} and where no, or very little, access to the services of the closest municipality with a population of 1,000 or more exists. (Remote community, not remote work from home)
VISIBLE MINORITY refers to the following sub-categories: Black, South Asian (e.g., East Indian, Pakistani, Sri Lankan), Filipino, Arab, Latin America, Southeast Asian (e.g., Vietnamese, Cambodian, Laotian, Thai), West Asian (e.g., Iranian, Afghan), Korean, Japanese, Chinese.
PARTICIPANT INFORMATION FORM INSTRUCTIONS
The Participant Information Form (also referred to as the PIF) is used to collect information to determine a participant’s eligibility for the Youth Employment and Skills Strategy Program and to record the results of a participant’s involvement in these activities.
This form should be completed by the new hire participating in the Youth Employment and Skills Strategy program.
Responding to the questions on gender, person with disability, indigenous group, new Immigrant, living in rural & remote regions, and youth in NEET are mandatory and required for program evaluation purposes.
It is mandatory to provide the applicant's contact and personal information as identified at the beginning of this section. The name of the participant entered should match the name used on their Social Insurance Number card.
As mentioned above, the `Participant Consent to Release Information’ must be signed and dated by the applicant as this is the consent to release to ESDC officials the information contained in the form.
